Kathryn graduated with her law degree in 1989 and commended working in private practice at that time. Kathryn joined FGD in 2005, having been a Registrar in Family Court, and became a director in 2007. Throughout her career Kathryn has specialised in dealing with families – in the areas of family law, wills, estate planning, mediation and collaborative law.
Kathryn was a founding director of our specialist estates firm Certus Law which merged with FGD in 2016. Her estate planning practice has been described as “family law for the dead and the living”.
From Kathryn’s perspective, strategic and targeted advice is critical in obtaining great outcomes for her clients. In the area of estate planning and wills Kathryn works closely with her client’s advisors to ensure the overall objectives of the client are addressed and properly reflected in the resulting documents. For those clients who are dealing with relationship breakdown or the death of loved ones, Kathryn brings an empathetic and caring approach to the issues that arise. Whether it be negotiations arising out of a separation or challenging a will, Kathryn have a strong settlement focus.

In her spare time, Kathryn loves cooking and travelling. Family and friend get together are always a reason to try out new recipes. Bushwalking or exploring new towns and cities has been a key focus of Kathryn’s travels. Kathryn is a recent convert to bike riding and is slowly coming round to the idea of riding holidays and is planning to ride in the UK later this year.
